Mark Rudnicki

Dr. Mark Rudnicki is currently a Professor of Practice of Forest Biomaterials in the College of Forest Resources & Environmental Science at Michigan Technological University, where he conducts and coordinates research & teaching in sustainable bioproducts & more holistically, the circular bioeconomy. Mark is an advisory board member for the 2021 World Bioeconomy Forum & a founding member of the Houghton-based FinnZone, a commercial launchpad for Finnish tech companies entering the United States. His diverse research interests include tree biomechanics, forest meteorology, circular bioeconomy, biomaterials & mass timber. Dr. Rudnicki was also the Executive Director (2015-2019) of the Michigan Forest Biomaterials Institute since its establishment as a non-profit NGO dedicated to the facilitation of the forest bioeconomy in the State of Michigan.

Dominink LaChapelle

Dominik is a fourth-year Environmental Engineering student. He is also the treasurer for Engineers Without Borders at Michigan Tech. In his spare time, he likes to go on hikes, hang out with friends, and play intramural sports. Dominik joined Circular Solutions in the Spring semester of 2023, and he is interested in the process of developing sustainable products in order to further advance the circular economy.

Emily Costigan

Emily is a third-year Sustainable Bioproducts major with a minor in the Business of Forestry at Michigan Technological University. Emily joined Circular Solutions in the Fall semester of 2024. She is originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan but hopes to continue to live in the Upper Peninsula after she graduates. Emily loves being outside whenever possible and learning new outdoor activities. Emily is passionate about the wood products industry but also hopes to be able to continue to create new ways to use renewable resources to replace one-time use and finite materials to create a more sustainable future. She likes the challenge of giving new functions to products and materials we already have.

Irelynn is a fourth-year Environmental Engineering student. She enjoys spending time with friends, paddleboarding, and dance. She joined Circular Solution in the Fall 2023 semester to learn more about how she can use innovative technology to have a positive impact on the environment and promote the circular economy.

Mars Judd

Mars is a fourth year Sustainability Science and Society major with a minor in Sustainable Bioproducts. Mars joined Circular Solutions in the Fall semester of 2024. Mars is interested in the building of sustainable city systems and urban forestry. In his free time he enjoys being outside. His favorite season is winter, he spends time snowboarding and hiking out in the snow whenever possible. When he’s not outside or with friends, Mars frequents the public library, his favorite genres to read are fantasy and dystopian fiction.

Grace Bistodeau

Grace is a third year Environmental Engineering major with a minor in business. She joined circular solutions in fall of 2024. Grace is also the president of the women’s lacrosse club, secretary for the Trap/Clay target club, and a LEAP leader. Grace joined Circular Solutions because she is passionate about finding ways to decrease waste by reusing common materials and reducing industrial materials.
